A leading Fertilizers and chemicals complex in Aqaba is seeking a qualified candidate for the post of Plant/Operation Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering Degree from a reputable university; Advanced degree in Engineering or Business (MBA) is a plus.
  • Proven work experience as a Plant or Operation Manager for more than ten years in similar industries; and a comprehensive related experience not less than twenty years.
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
  • Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental standards and regulations, particularly related to personnel, process safety and compliance with environmental regulations regarding air, water and waste.
  • Be knowledgeable of HSE, quality control & assurance, productivity, demand creation, maintenance methods, inventory and stewardship processes.
  • Demonstrated hands-on approach and experience.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Fluent in English language.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example. Leadership skills are necessary for directing, motivating, and developing plant employees.
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.
  • Negotiating skills for working with governmental regulatory agencies, suppliers and customers.

Main duties:

  • Leads the plant in safety and auditing of safety processes through the development of HSE programs, management of HSE cases, close supervision of safety systems, maintenance of OSHA/Responsible Care compliance, and regulation of environmental compliance.
  • Audits quality systems and manages issues that arise to completion, including supervising quality metrics, being aware of audits and checks, managing cost of poor quality inputs, maintaining quality systems  and overseeing the Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
  • Overseeing all the operational activities of the plant including, HSE, production, maintenance, process, materials’ handling, projects, and running optimum day-to-day manufacturing operations.
  • Increasing production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining best quality standards.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
  • Stay up to date with latest production and maintenance management best practices and concepts.
  • Preparing production and performance reports for top management.
  • Leads development and successful implementation of a plant manufacturing strategy in alignment with company, business, and operational goals. 
  • Manages new products development activities and technological improvements, and monitors the health of the existing processes and equipment.
  • Controlling expenditure and managing capital requirements within a set budgets.
  • Maintaining inventory levels and controlling the flow of products and its inputs in line with sales.
  • Oversees Purchasing and Stores Management for correct inventories, including ensuring availability of raw materials, critical supplies, spares. Works with the related managers to optimize these activities.
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive maintenance program for the plant.
  • Share a trusting relationship with workgroups and addressing employees’ issues or grievances. Set their training needs on daily and periodical basis. Managing the performance of the team, while ensuring adherence to health and safety and compnay’s personnel regulations.
  • Collect and analyze data to find places of time and efforts wastes or overtime.
  • Ensures monthly monitoring of cost performance and awareness, handles Plant finance/accounting, balances working capital with Plant needs, tracks costs, and develops and manages fixed, variable and capital cost budgets in coordination with finance and other divisions.
